Cuisine you should probably avoid in any season

Cuisine you should probably avoid in any season

It's the holidays now, so let's talk about food. For the novelty and sometimes outrageousness of their offerings, let's invoke the memories of chefs Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Paterson, who were the "Two Fat Ladies" of a BBC cooking show in the late 1990s. Known for numbers of eccentric habits such as travel to show locations via motorcycle and sidecar they stirred controversy with their unapologetic enthusiasm for lard, butter, cream, and pork pie.

I hope that non-UK readers realise that this video is Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Paterson sending themselves up and not typical of English cuisine. "The two ladies were as well endowed with humour as appetites, even at their own expense" is the clue!

They are "politically incorrect", very much against health fads, very pro "hunting shooting and fishing" (of foxes, pheasants and fish - not people) and have a huge liking for traditional food.

So yes they will fry chips (US=fries) in lard (they are lovely like that - as an occasional treat) but roast fillet of lard? No - besides it would not work!

Anyone know what what they did this video for - might it have been Children In Need or Comic Relief (UK Telethons)? I had not seen it before.

Oh wow where did that come from?
I loved their show, was so sad when one died. I could not stand the show at first but grew to love it! The old cook shows were the best! Real cooking and not some reality dope or what I ate yesterday s*&F.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.
