When I installed 2010, I installed OneNote. Somewhere along the way I got notice of an OneNote for Windows 10, which I installed, thinking it was an update. I'm not sure now that it is. The two both run, but look a good deal different, with O/N 2010 looking like, well, Office 2010, while O/N for Windows 10 looks like the "new" Office - 2016 (?).

Aside from dealing with ultimately keeping one and uninstalling the other, I want to be able to try both.

Are the formats and file structures compatible backward and forward, or will I need to account for two separate information sets? Are there any opinions as to any distinct advantages or disadvantages of one over the other?
