    Office 365 Updates

Office 2016 is NOT the same as Office 365

Some of you may not know that O365 gets regular extra monthly [or 6-monthly] development upgrades, which means that it has gradually diverged from the stand-alone O2016 over the past 2 years. You can read about all the main updates to 365 since O2016 launched on Preston Gralla's very useful…
Office 365: A guide to the updates
    …which Preston keeps up-to-date after each month's 365 updates.

    Semi-Annual Schedule

Looking at various MS pages, it looks like:
365 ProPlus for Business defaults to a 6-monthly update, in January & July.
Admins can get early pre-releases of these for testing, in September & March.

How to switch from Semi-Annual Channel to Monthly Channel for Office 365 ProPlus

Security updates and bug fixes will continue to be delivered each month to all.

Don't forget the updates you receive depend on the servicing channel you are in.

Thanks for the information. All along I have treated both office365 and 2016 to one and the same thing.

Thanks Joe, I overlooked that. I updated the OP to reflect what I think the situation is.

    August 2018 Updates

I haven't seen any August updates email, and haven't found anything in a search.

If you know otherwise, please post the info or a link.

All channels were updated on August 14 with six security updates each: Release information for updates to Office 365 ProPlus

Could you clarify from whom you receive the email summary?

Thanks Bruce. I intended this thread to be about new feature updates, rather than regular maintenance updates.

The one I received July 5th:
Subject—Office Extra: Your subscription keeps getting better
    From—Microsoft Office 365 <MicrosoftOffice365@email.office.com>
Within the content there's a link "See all Office 365 updates" which goes to…
    What's new in Office 365

I'll let this thread die, I bit off more than I can chew with the various update channels, different versions of 365, and the multiple releases in a month [eg 4 in May].
