Networking problem Win 10 Ver 1803 latest patch

I noticed today that I could not access my many network drives from a particular (heavily used) PC. The network could not be browsed but internet access was available. I tried all the diagnostics without success so eventually rolled back the security update 2018-06 "Cumulative for Windows 10 Version 1803 for X64 based systems. KB4284835" and this fixed the problem. Just a heads up for loungers! I have reported the problem on the Microsofft website for this update.

If you have a mixture of older versions of devices, Windows, and Windows 10 you may need to enable the SMB V1 client on the Windows 10 PC. Some devices need SMB V1. If it is just older versions of Windows you can try enabling SMB V2/V3 throughout the network. See How to detect, enable and disable SMBv1, SMBv2, and SMBv3 in Windows and Windows Server for instructions.

Note: SMB V1 has some serious security problems. If you can get newer SMB versions working that is what you should do.
