    Sending links from Firefox Quantum

I was reading tonight about Firefox Quantum (v60.0.2 x64, https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/) and thought I would take a look. I had used Firefox for years, but switched to Chrome for the speed. That issue / debate changes (in my mind) dramatically with Quantum, as the speed increase is *noticeable*. Anyway...

I have been able to set up my passwords (Roboform) and my link storage (Linkman). The one thing I haven't found as yet is how to connect my GMail account, so that, for instance, I can e-mail a page or page link via GMail.

Any help or direction on this would be much appreciated.
    -----------------
I found the way: It seems that you cannot assign GMail directly as the default mail client (at least not in Firefox Quantum that I can Se), but what I was able to do is install a Firefox extension, EasyMail for GMail, that then "talks" to GMail and all works without a hitch.

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Chuck,

I'm using the same version of Firefox Quantum and haven't installed any 'helper' extension. I just click on the ellipsis...
    firefox-quantum-send-to-email-01.jpg

    then choose Email Link...
    firefox-quantum-send-to-email-02.jpg

then choose the mail service I want to use...
    firefox-quantum-send-to-email-03.jpg

Do you not get the same option?

Rick, I was able to change the default for "mailto":

Click the menu button and choose Options.
In the General panel, go to the Applications section.
Search for the Content-type mailto and select it.
Click on the Action column in the mailto row to change the action.

EasyMail still is showing as a choice, and I can find nowhere to remove it. EasyMail doesn't show in the extensions list or anywhere that I can see.

    Any idea where to look?

Chuck, I can't even find a Firefox extension called EasyMail for Gmail to install (so I can test), only what looks like a desktop app that runs from the taskbar.

However, as a test I installed another extension called Send to Mail. Next I closed Firefox then went to the location where Firefox stores its extensions and renamed the Send to Mail file from .xpi to .xpi.old. When I restarted Firefox there was no sign of the Send to Mail extension being installed.

    Have a look in:
    Code:
    C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\3en8cxsd.default\extensions
(where 3en8cxsd.default is the name of your Firefox profile)

    Hope this helps...

Rick, I went back to a backup that only has IE and Edge, then installed Firefox Quantum. You are right. Emailing links is "built in" to the standard install. Now I like quantum even more.

    Thanks,

That would be why I couldn't find it then... I've never visited the Store.

    Glad it's sorted.

I'm double-glad you showed me how simple it actually is on the "new" FF. Thanks again.

(Not that I'm recommending this... )

Off topic but what the heck - in following the directions in this thread I notice that clicking the ellipsis gives the option to copy the entire page, no matter how long it is, and download it as a png. Cool.
