Excel 2016 Chart - Series name only in legend ?

An Excel 2016 chart legend contains not only the series name, but the values too - how can the values be removed from the legend so that just the series name remains ? TIA

    Dave.

A partial solution appears to be the use of F8 after selecting the column headings (series names), then select the data (rows), then F11 to create a chart.

However, the horizontal axis name is included in the legend box as one of the keys, which isn't wanted.

Can you post a sample workbook? It sounds like you just have the wrong data being plotted to me.

It does seem to have assigned the ranges very strangely - mostly down to the blank row I think. I've edited them using the Select Data dialog in this version.

As a rule, I find that if your first column should be the category labels, it's best to leave that header blank, then select the data and insert the chart. That way the chart shouldn't plot that as a data series. You can add the header in afterwards.
