    Hi Zeddy

    Sorry for the confusion

See some examples below which I hope is clearer of what I want to achieve

    1) Based on Matching references with the same Ref or similar ref for eg KR-807 matches with same or similar Ref KR-807-PCV321291 (row 3136) for first code that is NOT 101001, 127008, 128001-128020 (120001, 128002, 12803 etc) , 125915, 125910, 125925, 114100, 114110, 122210 . In this example the code is 126075
    2) KR-3834769 matches with same ref KR-3834769 (row 3166) . first code that is NOT 101001, 127008, 128001-128020 (120001, 128002, 12803 etc) , 125915, 125910, 125925, 114100, 114110, 122210 is 126100
    3) KR-227691 matches with same ref matches with same ref KR-3834769 (row 3168) . first code that is NOT 101001, 127008, 128001-128020 (120001, 128002, 12803 etc) , 125915, 125910, 125925, 114100, 114110, 122210 is 297255 (row 3168)

    Hi Howard

Here's an update. It's not finished. See if this helps.

In the attached v1d file, on sheet [Final Result], click the [STEP 1: Extract] button to show the file browser.

In the file browser, double-click on the filename to be processed
    e.g. [Import Template-rz Ver1.1.xlsm]

I have added a timer to show how long the STEP 1 process takes.

After Step 1 is finished, click the [STEP 2..] button.

The STEP 2 process isn't finished yet. It currently just checks the returned Codes against a lookup list on sheet [codes]
Does this help you along the way???

When all the Steps have been written and tested, we can just combine them into a single procedure.

    Hi Zeddy

The speed now is phenomenal 10.75 secs. We are making good headway

I have tested several items and highlighted those on sheet "Final result" where codes are incorrect

    1) Where ref match returns 101001, 127008, 128001-128020 (120001, 128002, 12803 etc) , 125915, 125910, 125925, 114100, 114110, 122210, then find first code that is not one of these for ref match. If no other code exists, find similar ref match that starts with same ref for eg KR-807 matches with similar Ref KR-807-PCV321291 Code 126075. If no other code besides one of the codes not to extract , then extract first code, then and highlight code
    2) Where value in Col D is zero (final result) , no code for these needs to be extracted (these rows can be deleted)

Thanks for your patience and time. If going to take up too much of your time, then let me know and we can abandon this project

I haven't finished yet. Glad you liked the speed improvement.
A thank you is all that is required.

Your further clarification is much appreciated.
I have some urgent other stuff to deal with but I will return to this shortly.

    Hi Zeddy

Just checking if you have had a chance to have a look at the project. If not you can look at it early in the New Year

    Merry Christmas to you

You travel a great deal Zeddy. Hope your trip to New York was successful

Travelling can be very tiring, but if you enjoy travelling its great.

New York is very hectic but a wonderful city.

Look forward to you putting the final touches to the code

    Hi Howard

We have some great friends in Manhattan.
They have come over to the UK for a visit and we will be seeing them on Thursday in Huddersfield.
It's just a few hours drive away - spending a couple of nights there.

New York is a very wonderful city.

I always love travelling except when I don't.

I'm looking forward to getting back to that Excel coding, but it'll be probably next week at this rate.
