    Bothersome inputs.

Hello. In W-10, I was given a way to block this bothersome video that springs up in the right-low corner of my screen. It worked. Can anybody show me how to do likewise in W-8.1 ? It involved clicking on a small icon on the site address bar. I can not find it in W-8.1.

Thanks a mega, in advance. JP

It would help if you were to tell us what program this is popping up in?

Now running Windows 10 64 Bit OS.

Looks like a browser page so there isn't much you can do about what content sites supply. Clicking on the cross will probably get rid of it until next time.

    cheers, Paul

Most browsers should have a setting to disable playing of video or animations, which may help.

There's a Chrome/Opera extension called AutoplayStopper which I use, seems to help.

OK, let me refine my poorly defined description. This is in Edge browser, I am running W-10 Insiders 18290. If I click on the small padlock at the left end of the site address as shown :

    Lock.jpg

I will then get the next option to block it all as in :

    Lock-a.jpg

Where in Win 8.1 can I achieve the same result ?

After snooping around a little, I think that I found it, here is what I located :

    Lockb.jpg

Thanks to all who responded. Jean.

    David, greets.

You typed at me thus : >> are you telling us that you use Edge in Windows 8.1? <<

I have been tempted but it is in beta only so far. But read my lips :

    >> In W-10, I was given a way to block this bothersome video that springs up in the right-low corner of my screen.<<

I was asking how to do this in W-81. This was in my first post here. Pay attention or go to the corner. LOL. Jean.

As far as I know Edge comes only with Windows 10 at this time.

In order to help you with Windows 8.1, we need to know what browser you are using within it?

Next time you access the WWW in W-8.1, type "edge" in the address bar and you will see an offer to D/L it in that OS, with a caveat that it is in beta, the choice is yours.
I use IE, the latest version, I forget the version number. OK, I found it : Shoot, I typed too fast, I did a C&P on the version and it will not Paste. I seem to remember that it is V.11. ( ??? )

IE does NOT support control of video autoplay the way Edge does. You'd have to use the Advanced Internet Options to disable all media and then probably disable Flash separately.

Nice post, JoeP. Now I know that I should give up on this bothersome display.

Would you have an idea of when, if ever, Edge would run on W-8.1 ? Thanks.

Maybe when Edge adopts the Chromium rendering engine. That won't be for quite a while. Edge with Chromium will be Windows 10 first. Not even any insider news on that timing yet.

JoeP, greets. I tried to use Chrome on one machine, and doing what I do routinely, I searched the information for my investments. I normally do this each day then save the data to a file in the proper folder, it comes down to a : Save as ! It is easily done in IE and also Edge. It then says that the file already exits, to replace it ? I do replace it and my folder is up-to-date. Chrome does not have this option/routine, the Save-as one. So I deleted Chrome.
If you have a mean to advise the Power-that-be, please do so. I ignore if anybody else does this.
    Have a great Missouri day.
